DJ Sbu makes shock return to SABC radio after almost a decade

Revered radio host, media personality, philanthropist, and businessman DJ Sbu will finally be back on South African airwaves.

A Sbusiso Leope, best known as DJ Sbu, has been unveiled as one of Radio 2000’s new show hosts following the station’s annual shake-up.

This time of the year is usually when local radio stations give their line-ups a shake up and it hasn’t been different with some of the state broadcaster’s stations announcing new voices on their airwaves.

The premium national urban adult contemporary radio station in South Africa, Radio 2000 announced its new line-up which will come into effect on 1 April.

DJ SBU RETURNS TO HIS RADIO ROOTS

DJ Sbu will make his comeback with a bang as he takes on the role of new breakfast show host after almost a decade away from radio.

His appointment to the prime time slot promises that South Africa’s mornings will never be the same again, as he ushers in a new breakfast show together with the current team of Nathi Ndamase as co-presenter and Lelo Mzaca as the sports anchor.

As part of the show’s introduction, listeners will have an opportunity to give the show a name with prizes up for grabs. Until then the ‘No Name Breakfast Show’ airs weekdays, between 6am and 9am.

OTHER LINEUP CHANGES

Additionally, Radio 2000 also announced that award winning producer, artist, businessman, DJ and hitmaker Tlou Cleopas Monyepao aka ‘DJ Cleo’ will be joining the station.

The winner of several music awards – DJ Cleo with his wealth of musical knowledge will host a brand-new dance show ‘The Eskhaleni Party’ Fridays, 10pm to 12am

The rest of weekday daytime lineup remains unchanged with the vibrant Ntombi Phiri on Better Together between 9am and 12pm, David Mashabela returns with another season of The Royal Playground, from 12pm to 3pm; while Paul Mnisi drives you home together with his team Isaac Gampu and Lonwabo Nkohla on sports duty on The Drive Connection, between 3pm and 6pm.

The station bids farewell to radio legend Lewis Mpotseng Tshinaba aka Glen Lewis, whose journey with Ratio 2000 comes to an end after hosting the breakfast show in the past year and afternoon drive show in the 2022-23 lineup. The much-loved talent will present his last show on 29 March 2024.
