Oscar Pistorius is a free man roaming Pretoria’s streets again.

The former Paralympian was convicted of murder in 2013 for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Earlier this year, the 37-year-old was released from prison after serving eight and a half years.

He was seen for the first time since his release in recent pictures where he was on his way to the parole office in Pretoria. Pistorius appeared to have lost weight and aged, with grey and thinning hair, as a result of his time in prison.

Following his release, reports suggest that he has been working out regularly and has been following a strict alcohol-free diet. He must now adhere to a number of conditions set by Atteridgeville Correction Services officials as part of his parole until 2029.

Despite this, social media has reacted negatively to the latest photos of Pistorius, which show him smiling.

A few X(Twitter) users were sympathetic towards Oscar Pistorius, saying he should be left alone as he served his jail time.

According to the Daily Mail UK, a friend of Reeva Steenkamp was unhappy upon seeing Pistorius smiling in public.

“It is very disturbing to see Pistorius smiling like he doesn’t have a care in the world,” said a friend who refused to be named.

“If I could, I would wipe that smile off his face. I don’t know how he sleeps at night for what he did.”

Oscar Pistorius is not allowed to do interviews until 2029 as per his parole rules.
