Returning Springboks give Bulls a timely boost

The Bulls will welcome back two key Springboks, but will be without another Test star for their URC derby showdown against the Lions at Ellis Park.

The 2023 World Cup-winning backline duo has not played for the Bulls since the 23 December derby against the Stormers, due to Springbok resting protocol.

BULLS TO CALL ON SPRINGBOKS

The Bulls have shared the welcome news that both Moodie and Arendse have returned to training and will be available for selection for the derby against the Lions in Johannesburg, a game which kicks off the second half of the URC campaign.

The Springboks pair’s return to action comes after they enjoyed a seven-week sabbatical as part of the mandatory rest period for Test players.

NO WILLIE ABSENT AFTER WEDDING

Veteran fullback Willie le Roux hasn’t yet made use of his available rest period, but he is unlikely to feature this week as he just got married this past weekend and will likely be away on honeymoon.

Le Roux’s predicted absence will cause the Bulls to reshuffle their backline, but the recent acquisition of Devon Williams from the Pumas should help with the rejigged line-up.

The Bulls are currently the highest-ranked South African team in the URC, sitting in fourth place with 30 points.
