Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is among the highest-paid athletes in the world.
Messi earned more than $130 million in 2022 alone with much of that income coming from endorsements.

For a long time, Messi was synonymous with Barcelona, although that relationship would sour.
He was able to make as much as $165 million per season on his final deal with Barcelona.
Messi reportedly ‘only’ earns $41 million per season under his current PSG deal, signed in August 2021 when he made the decision to leave Catalunya. These earnings haven’t been confirmed, though, so the Argentine star may earn far more when performance bonuses are taken into consideration.
He has a lifelong sponsorship deal with German sports apparel manufacturer Adidas.

According to the latest estimates, the net worth of Lionel Messi sits at $650 million in 2024.
Messi was the highest-paid sportsman in the world in 2022 and according to reliable sources has earned over $1.3 billion across his career to date.
Barcelona were reportedly willing to break the bank to bring Messi back to Spain, with that speculation dominating headlines before his Miami move.
Nike is believed to be just one of the Barcelona backers who are eager for the club to restore their famous No 10.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims sources from the board of Joan Laporta’s predecessor as Barcelona chairman Josep Bartomeu, say that Messi brought €250-300 million ($274-329 million) into the club in the form of merchandising, ticketing and sponsorship revenue.
Major League Salary
Messi is the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer at the moment with a guaranteed yearly pay of $20.4 million.
He signed his contract with Inter Miami in 2023. The deal expires in 2025 and is said to be worth $150 million. That sum is made up of his playing salary, signing bonus and equity stake in Inter Miami, his new team.

Messi gets royal treatment in Miami. He has a dedicated security detail and has done well to dodge the paparazzi. Messi found press intrusions in Paris unbearable during his spell at PSG. The club are clearly spending more on him than his base salary.
He has delivered on the pitch as well. There is no suggestion that he is easing into retirement in Miami. It is apparent that the club and league have ambition. Lionel Messi is worth it for Inter Miami, it seems.
