Kaizer Chiefs fans are wondering who is set to take over from Cavin Johnson. Could it be Sundowns’ man, Manqoba Mngqithi? Here’s the latest.
Mngqithi is one of the men whose name has been linked with the Amakhosi hottest in recent months.
Furthermore, his contract is set to expire at the end of the current 2023/24 DStv Premiership. Meaning that he will be available at the same time that Chiefs aim to appoint a new coach on a permanent basis.
MNGQITHI TO CHIEFS LOOKING INCREASINGLY UNLIKELY
Mngqithi is not Amakhosi management’s first choice.
In fact, he currently sits behind the likes of both Raul Caneda and Pitso Mosimane when it comes to the front-runners for the job.
“No, I don’t think at this time there is chance for Mngqithi. They know it will be difficult to get him if Sundowns are renewing his contract. But they also don’t want to feel like they are trying to destabilise Sundowns and that’s why they are looking at Spanish coach who was on the shortlist (Raul canned),” the insider reported on SoccerLaduma.
MOSIMANE STILL BEING CONSIDERED
Mosimane to Chiefs is the Amakhosi dream that is still alive, according to recent reports on The South African.
However, Caneda is currently the front-runner having emerged as their new priority target. Additionally, Adel Amrouche’s name has once again come up as a potential replacement.
