Orlando Pirates are already planning for the next season, with both incomings and outgoings in focus.

Pirates made a number of signings during the off-season, as well as the January transfer window.

They signed Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy, Siphelo Baloni from All Stars FC and Katlego Otladisa from Marumo Gallants. They were joined by Karim Kimvuidi, Lesedi Kapinga and Patrick Maswanganyi. Then, in January, Pirates added the duo of Thabiso Lebitso and Thalenthe Mbatha. In January, stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch and Bienvenu Eva Nga both left the club for Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United respectfully.

Those players are expected to be followed out of the exit door by a few more, in the coming window. The likes of Zakhele Lepasa, Souaibou Marou, Sandile Mthethwa, among those touted for an exit. Another name that could enter that list soon is goalkeeper Richard Ofori. Another player who is believed to be on his way out of Pirates next season is Kermit Erasmus.

Erasmus accepts he is leaving Pirates

This publication reported last week, that Erasmus had seemingly accepted his fate at Pirates. The former Bafana Bafana international understands he will leave the club at the end of the season. Further hints of this came from a social media announcement he made about about signing for a new management agency.

Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Erasmus is on the radar of former club Cape Town City.

Cape Town City next?

“The Siya crew understands that City are a possible destination for the 33-year-old, having previously made an impact at the club before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020. Erasmus enjoyed his football while he was at City, finding the back of the net regularly during his time at the club. The club had previously signed players who made an impact while they were in their 30s. Both Teko Modise and Mpho Makola made a good contribution at the club in the latter years of their careers.” Wrote the publication.

Erasmus is yet to feature for Pirates in 2024. It now looks increasingly unlikely that he will do so, however. With the club also making it no secret that they’re looking to revamp their strike force, it’s surely curtains for him.
