Orlando Pirates are pressing ahead with their transfer plans for next season, with a new target identified.

Pirates was active during the January transfer window, signing Talent Mbatha and Thabiso Lebitso.

Already for the next season, Pirates have been linked with some names to further beef up their squad. Long-term targets such as Riaan Hanamub and Shaune Mogaila. Then there have been fresh targets like Stanley Nwabali, Shandre Campbell, Velemseni Ndwandwe, Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Andy Boyeli

But that is just to name but a few. Speaking of names, Pirates look to have added a surprise name to their list. That is of Stellenbosch FC centre back Ismael Toure. Toure signed for Stellies on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at relegated Marumo Gallants. He has also since proven to be a rock for his new side, being at the heart of their 22 game unbeaten run.

Toure was also linked to Pirates before signing for Stellenbosch last season. With the form he has shown this season, it’s no surprise that he has been linked with them again According to Soccer-Laduma, they’re ready to revisit their pursuit of the player.

Pirates back in for Toure?

“Pirates had been monitoring the player (Toure ) since his days at Marumo Gallants. Remember there was a stage when Marumo were doing well in CAF (Confederation Cup) and that didn’t go unnoticed. But Stellenbosch were quick to sign him after Marumo got relegated. But there is still interest from Pirates in the player. His progress at Stellenbosch hasn’t gone unnoticed and nobody can deny that he has improved in the last few months to be one of the top defenders in the league. But the player is focused on the good job he is doing for Stellenbosch and is aiming to make further progress with the team, as there is also a semi-final of the Nedbank Cup coming for them next month against (Mamelodi) Sundowns,” said the source.

Stellenbosch willing to sell?

It remains to be seen if Stellenbosch will be willing to sell Toure to Pirates.
