These teams would make the MTN8 if the DStv Premiership season finished TODAY

The 2023/24 DStv Premiership season is fast approaching its conclusion with a fierce battle on to finish in the top half of the standings.

As the name suggests, only the top eight teams at the conclusion of this season will qualify for next season’s MTN8.

Seven teams have confirmed their spots, with Kaizer Chiefs hanging grimly onto the eighth and final position.

If the season were to finish today, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy, SuperSport United, Sekhukhune United, Cape Town City FC and Kaizer Chiefs would all qualify for a share of the MTN8 riches.

Such a scenario would see the following matches take place:

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Kaizer Chiefs

Stellenbosch FC vs Cape Town City FC

Orlando Pirates vs Sekhukhune United

TS Galaxy vs SuperSport United

The eighth and final place will be decided on the final day of the season, Saturday, 25 May.

AmaZulu, Polokwane City, Golden Arrows and Chippa United can all snatch the eighth and final spot away from Kaizer Chiefs if results go their way.

Orlando Pirates are the MTN8 defending champions.

The overall winner will bank R8 million with the seven other participating teams all taking home R800 000 for an overall payout of R13.6 million.
